What is a Licensed Practical Nurse?
They are also known as so many other names in different countries around the world (i.e. Licensed Vocational Nurse, and Enrolled Nurse). But what do they really do? Apart from being schooled in nursing, what else do they have to learn? How do you become a LPN? How can you become a LPN? If you’re searching to find out the meaning of LPNs and the endeavors they entail then continue reading.
LPNs have many different responsibilities in different job settings, but generally they provide help and care to patients in need. Usually having to give bedside care, recording patient statistics, administering of injections, and in other cases caring for the patients’ hygienic needs.
Prospective LPN often wants to know if they can take LPN online classes?
LPNs have to learn more that what they are taught in school but in contrast will sometimes not use what school has taught them. Practicality will come into play whilst being a LPN, hence the name. Whatever patient needs arise, you must oblige as you are there to help.
Now on to the matter of becoming an LPN, first off, you have to take a training program which will take about one (1) years time. To enter in such, you will usually have to obtain a high school diploma or equivalent. These programs are usually offered by technical or vocational schools as well as some colleges and other programs do not require a diploma as some have this type of training integrated into their high school curriculum. Be careful in choosing which program you enroll in as some programs are not approved by their respective states.
After your training you are already a nurse yet you are not qualified to practice your field yet because only “Licensed” nurses can. To become licensed you have to pass the NCLEX-PN which is the abbreviation for National Council Licensure Examination-Practical Nurse, it gives you the right to be able to practice your field upon passing it. This exam will surely not be easy, a lot of topics to cover and a lot of things to study for the aspiring nurse. But after which you will finally be able to call yourself a Licensed Practical Nurse!
Because of the complexity of handling the patients daily needs, before you can get the license, the state board will want you to complete hands-on learning. A complete LPN online classes thus is not possible.

LPN Online
Most often LPN to be full time mothers who want to better their life by going back to school and get their nursing degrees as fast as possible. LPN allows such moms to enter the lucrative nursing career which allows them to earn much better wages as a nurse.
Because of the time and budget constraints for these moms, they often wish to know if there is LPN online program they can take in the comfort of their own homes. It would be ideal if LPN can take classes online.
However, just imagine this... you need to take care patients and there is no text book can properly describe the procedures for you. You must achieve it by seeing how it is done in person by a register nurse. When it comes to be medical, any carelessness and/or unintentional mistakes on your part are a major liability for the hospital as well as bringing dangers to your patients whom you must serve.
I am sorry to dash your hope of taking LPN online programs but you really can't.
Once you are LPN,you can become RN or BSN just by taking classes online. LPN can become RN in as little as 2 years via the associate degree route.
So take heart LPN to be. Future as LPN is very bright. In my opinion, LPN is a little better nursing entrance career than a let's say CNA. Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA) often must use a lot more physical strength to lift patients than an LPN. Please do not take it lightly the accreditation parts of your LPN degree. You can't take NCLEXPN exam if your degree comes from a worthless university or technical college. Your degree must come from a state approved LPN schools to qualify.
It would help if you watch this video below for list of state approved LPN programs.
